What is Baccarat?
Baccarat is a simple card game played with 8 decks of cards in a shoe on the Baccarat table, featuring boxes to place your chips. The goal is to guess which of the two hands, the Player Hand or the Banker Hand, will have a higher value, with the highest possible points set at 9.
How to Play?
- Place Your Bet: Start by placing a bet on either the Player Bet or Banker’s Bet using your chips.
- Deal the Cards: The dealer deals one card each to the Player and Banker boxes, repeating this until each box has two cards.
- Determine the Winner: If your bet matches the box with the highest-ranking combination, you win. Otherwise, you lose that round. There are additional rules for drawing a third card, explained below.
Rules to Know
- Card Rankings:
- 9 is the highest value.
- 10 and face cards are worth 0 points.
- Cards 2 through 9 are worth their face value.
- Ace is worth 1 point.
- Calculating Points: When the total points exceed 9, only the second digit is considered. For example, a total of 10 becomes 0, 11 becomes 1, etc.
- Winning: The hand closest to 9 wins.
- Tie: If both hands have the same value, it is a tie, and neither hand wins or loses. Optional bets are paid according to the payout table.
Types of Bets
- Player Bet: Wins if the Player Hand totals 8 or 9. Payout is even money.
- Banker Bet: Wins if the Banker Hand totals 8 or 9. Payout is even money, except when winning with a total of 6 points, in which case the payout is 50% of the initial bet.
- Tie Bet: Wins if both hands tie. Payout is 8x the bet amount.
- Super Six Bet: An optional bet that wins if the Banker Hand wins with 6 points. Payout is 12x the bet amount.
- Pair Bet: An optional bet that wins if the first two cards are a pair. Payout is 11x the bet amount.
Third Card Rules
- Player Hand:
- If the total is 9, the Player Hand wins.
- If the total is 6 or less, a third card is drawn.
- If the total is 5 or less and the Banker Hand has 8 or 9, the Banker Hand wins.
- Banker Hand:
- Draws a third card if the total is 0, 1, or 2, unless the Player Hand has 8 or 9.
- Draws a third card based on the Player Hand’s third card value if the total is 3 to 6, with specific rules for each value.
- Stands if the total is 7.
- No additional cards are drawn if either hand totals 8 or 9.
